This coral bells is native to the southwestern part of North America. Sanguinea is Latin and means blood-red.
The stems of the flowers of the Heuchera sanguinea ‘Leuchtkäfer’ are about 70 centimetres (28 inches) high and rise above the foliage. The leaves are somewhat marbled and reach a height of about 25 centimetres (10 inches). The flower stems are leafless sturdy and stay upright. The flowers are red but have a tendency towards pink and they bloom for a long time.
These coral bells are clump forming and spread through seed.
The Heuchera sanguinea ‘Leuchtkäfer’ does not like clay soil very much. This perennial prefers moist well-drained soil. The coral bells tolerates full sun but only when the soil is moist enough.
The coral bells is very suitable for edges, borders and rock gardens.
