The Origanum laevigatum ‘Rosenkuppel’ is a genus from the Lamiaceae or Labiatae family and is commonly named ornamental oregano or marjoram. The oregano is native to southeastern Europe and the part of Asia adjacent to it.
The Origanum laevigatum ‘Rosenkuppel’ prefers a sunny, warm spot with well-drained soil and is very tolerant to drought and heat. The stems grow to a length of about 60 cm (24 inches) and fall to the ground mostly without support.
This oregano is purely ornamental and not for culinary purposes. The flowers attract a lot of bees and bumblebees and are also good cut flowers. If you cut off the spent flowers you can prolong the flowering period.
Cut the Origanum laevigatum ‘Rosenkuppel’ back to the ground in spring. You can also dig up and divide the oregano in spring.
